The Aptera 2e feat. on “Jay’s Garage”
Tuesday, 19 May 2009 | by
Aptera President/CEO Paul Wilbur recently spent some time with Jay Leno at “Jay’s Garage”. The result is this 10-minute piece that beautifully showcases the 2e, including an enthusiastic endorsement from Leno. Be sure to check-out the 2e next to the jet on the runway at Burbank Airport.
Jay also mentioned Aptera on the “Tonight Show” last night. You can check it out here.

This video gets me even more excited about the Aptera 2e. I saw it late last night and I was thinking about it all day. The automobiles and the auto industry itself are at the beginnings of a Renaissance and the Aptera will be a da Vinci. It is a truly inspired design. As soon as I can decided between the 2e or the 2h you will have my deposit. You have my support already, I’ve been telling everyone about this machine. I have seen the future of the automobile.

What is lead time for delivery?

Why no sales in Portland Oregon? America’s greenest city? You should concentrate on sales in discreet urban areas instead of trying to cover sales and service in one state.
Sell it in LA, SF, PDX and SEA. That should be your plan.

When are you guys going to start actually making and delivering these things?
A lot of us might be ready to buy, but after such long delays, do not want to put down a deposit for a delivery date at some point in the indefinite future.

WHEN WILL IT BE OUT? TO many delays for any of my cash now. When?

Can you shed a little light on your plans for a nationwide roll out? I’d plunk down the money for a 2h today if it was available in Indiana.

How much does one of these cost? The electric and the hybrid version?

seconding Keith Walker’s push for Portland, OR.
the logistics aren’t much different than you already need for Northern CA…
and Oregonians are less litigious than Californians!

Third motion for Portland, OR. Also, we have more extreme driving conditions; mountain, snow, rain (a lot), beach, hills, and level driving are all within 100 miles. Send us the Aptera for a real test market!

I would like to hear more about aptera in diverse condtions. So far I am excited about the car and want more information.

The delays are disappointing, but the concept remains awesome and visionary. I’d sure like to see some of those federal dollars going to support a company that’s moving forward rather than to a bunch of total losers like GM and whatever company Chrysler is this week…My dream has been to buy one of these to celebrate after I finish working on my MBA next year. Efficient, green and profitable are the three most important words for 21st century businesses, in my opinion, and they need not be mutually exclusive. Realizing that, however, takes courage, commitment, and vision. I wish you the best with your production launch!

I want more information on the 2H, because that will be the one that I will buy. Also I hear that there will be an instant $7500 tax cut from buying a car with this kind of mileage, is this true? Because if it is it makes it a lot easier to aford it

This seems like a pretty amazing car. Great concept, great ideas but the only thing that I’m worried about is the cost of it. Yeah sure its extremely efficient and I do believe it is. The problem is though is the price estimate keeps rising (I believe it was at 30-40k? please correct me if im wrong) but thats extremely pricey for a two seater, or even a sedan. Most people can’t commit to paying this much even if they save more money in the long run. It looks like a fantastic car but get the price down – 20-30k possibly, which is more realistic for the average driver.

Love the car, buuuttt do the windows roll down? Is the seat adjustable? I only ask cause I did a lil work for Myers Motors (formerly Corbin Motors) & their seat wasn’t adjustable. Plus Turn down the Johny B. Good song or have the option to turn it off so I can actually listen to the video with Jay Leno. Keep up the great work guys & Hire me to help with the Redesign. Not that it really needs it.

If Portland is too far, how about Eugene,OR?! We’ve got one heck of a green scene around here and would welcome such a well engineered vehicle. I’d even buy the first one of the fleet.

It really is awesome; that you were able to get Jay Leno’s endorsement, I think that an official road test (comparison) by someone like “Road&Tack” would give you even more mileage though!
Congrats on a very cool design! “Art Center College of Design” Graduate. Gairy Smith

Believe it or not here is a second yay for Indiana. I understand that what you guys are undertaking is a mammoth task, bringing a small car company to fruition, but I really believe that smaller, adaptable and progressive companies are truly the future of personal transport. Automobiles as a whole have needed serious rethinking for decades now, and perhaps we may finally relive the blessed elan of our great forbears who started this crazy horseless carrige idea. May their innovation and courage pass on to us and give us strength to meet our trade with great boldness. As far as Indiana goes, when you guys are ready, this is a manufacturing state with many good men out of jobs, land is dirt cheap and what’s more they are seriously looking at every possible way to infuse their economy with green. Good luck, and Godspeed.

Early adopter alert!
Stylewise, it looks like a tough pill to swallow for many. So were the more-aerodynamic-and-less-of-a-brick cars of the ’90s.

Portland Please! I’ve been eagerly awaiting and evangelizing Apreta for a couple of years now. It’s time for me to trade in my trusty 2001 Prius (build date 8/1/00), license plate LOW CO2. Exciting ten years ago, now I know it’s been my transition vehicle. My next plate will be NO CO2. Please bring Aptera to Portland ASAP!

I think you should sell it in Portland, Seattle and other dense cities. You have my vote to get federal assistance. THIS is way way ahead of the Volt.

Id like to see NASA and the American auto industry turn to this kind of work.We need a faster passenger plane that dont use petro as well as this. This is the kind of USA product we can export.
