Aptera visits Washington DC

The Aptera team was busy during its inaugural visit to Capitol Hill, turning the heads of passer-bys and congressional leaders. The team gave test rides around the block in the congested traffic around the Capitol and grabbed a few shots of the vehicle in front of the city’s historic landmarks. We’ll be adding many of these images to our Flickr account soon, so keep an eye out.
We thought we’d take a minute to share some of the great press coverage from the trip, in case you hadn’t had a chance to check it out. If you were out and about at the Capitol and saw the Aptera 2e, let us know in the comment section and post a link to any pictures (we love seeing them).

The University of Kentucky Solar Car Team was pleased to meet with Sean Touhy and Paul Wilbur while they were in Washington. A few members of our team were in D.C. as part of our school’s Engineering Leadership program. Although we got to meet with the DOE, NSF, and CIA, the real highlight of our trip was when we saw the Aptera 2e drive up to the Capitol building. Of all production vehicles, it is the most similar to the solar-powered cars (mostly 3-wheelers, as well) that compete in the North American Solar Challenge (www.americansolarchallenge.org).

Good morning,
My question is how does the Aptera function in the winter. I live in Edmonton, Canada and I and my company are very interested in where electric vehicles are headed. Your design is certainly innovative but I am cautious about new technology and exaggerated claims. We get real snow and real winter here. Have you tested the vehicle in more challenging conditions than California?
